CajsaStina is exhibiting her art at Gysinge herrgård

On November 15–16, singer-songwriter CajsaStina Åkerström will exhibit her art at Gysinge herrgård the municipality of Sandviken. She has chosen to title the exhibition “Still Life.”

“It is a great pleasure for me to exhibit my art at Gysinge herrgård beautiful Gysinge herrgård is situated in a truly fantastic industrial setting next to the Dalälven River. This is the first time I’m showing my art in Gästrikland,” says CajsaStina Åkerström.

Throughout her life, CajsaStina Åkerström has had a deep interest in and love for art. In 2020, she embarked on a new parallel career as an artist. During the pandemic-induced hiatus, she began painting detailed still lifes and nature scenes. Her first exhibition, “Den allvarsamma leken” (The Serious Play), was held in June 2021 at the Persona Gallery in her hometown of Kalmar.

CajsaStina is a self-taught artist who describes her painting as figurative, organic, and intuitive. For her, the play of light within the subject—which often consists of glass objects—is important.

– I mainly work with oil pastels using a technique of my own. I mix my own shades with a palette knife and then use the palette knife, my fingers, and my fingernails as “brushes” when I paint. I also devote a lot of time and focus to finding subjects where light, perspective, and colors interact in a way that feels optimal to me. I find these subjects at home and in my surroundings while I’m walking and taking photos. Then I paint freehand, says CajsaStina.

CajsaStina believes that intuition plays a key role in her creative process. “It’s definitely related to making music. I also listen to a lot of music while I paint. I often have old favorites like Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, Bob Dylan, and Joni Mitchell playing in my headphones.” Her interest in and talent for painting come from her mother’s side of the family, CajsaStina explains.

CajsaStina's exhibition runs from November 15–16, 2025. Address: Benedicks väg 4, 811 97 Gysinge. Hours: Saturday 11:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m. and Sunday 11:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m. Free admission.
